We are told "love not the world, neither the things in the world".  This is for our benefit as the world is made up of temporal things which will all pass away one day.  Also we are told that all things temporal or temporary are made of and by the spiritual. The word is spirit and it is life.  We are also told that we have the power of life and death in our tongues.  We should desire spiritual things more than material possessions.

Consider Lot's wife.  She loved the things of her world so much that when it was about to be destroyed she turned to see it "one last time".  Obviously she only saw it "one last time".  Her love of the world turned her heart from the Father.  She turned to a pillar of salt, leaving her as a big reminder that putting anything before the Father and his will can have deadly consequences.

We are also told "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life".  John 3:16

We can safely say that the Father isn't schizophrenic.  He isn't telling us to do one thing while he does another.  He loved us, while we were in the world and he was willing to make a way for our salvation.  He sent his son, Yeshua to die for us.  This being our example, we can love those in the world and do as the Son instructed "go ye into all the world and preach the gospel". We are not, however, to love things.  Things can quickly become idols, cheap imitations of God and take His place.  You will end up serving them.

More to come!
