At present it seems the entire world is going through a time of tribulation.  Is it the "great" tribulation mentioned in the New Testament?  I don't know, but I do know we need to come through as a bride; spotless and without wrinkle.  How will we do it?  How will we come through in spite of the massive waves of terror that are surrounding us?  There is only one way.  It is the way of our God, it is the "love walk".  It's not something we can do once in a while.  It's not something we can do when we "feel like it".  It's not something we reserve for our friends and family.  It's a matter of life and death for us.

In the book of John chapter 13:34-35 Yeshua gives commandment to HIS disciples "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you that ye also love one another.  By this shall all know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

In Matthew 22:37-40 he says, "Thou shalt love the L-rd they God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  On these two commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets."

Here we see how important this love is.  We're told that "God is love".  Not that God loves, although He does, but that He IS love.  If we are to be like God, if we are truly made in His image and likeness then we are to be love as well.  We're taught that perfected love casts out fear.  With all the terrorism surrounding us, we need all the perfected love we can find.  Joshua 1:8 tells us to meditate upon His word day and night so that we may to observe to do it and then we shall have good success.  Here is a good place to start.

Using the Amplified Bible is the 1 Corinthians 13 definition of love broken down into its simplest elements:

  • Enduring (doesn't quit)
  • Patient (not whiney while waiting)
  • Kind
  • Never envious
  • Never boils over with jealousy
  • Not boastful
  • Not vainglorious (seeking empty glory and fame)
  • Does not display itself haughtily (like a peacock)
  • Not conceited
  • Not arrogant
  • Not puffed up with pride (saying look at what I've done)
  • Not rude (unmannerly)
  • Does not act unbecomingly
  • Does not insist on its own rights (ouch)
  • Does not insist on its own way (double ouch)
  • Not self seeking
  • Not touchy, fretful or resentful     (GET READY FOR THIS NEXT ONE)
  • Does not keep records of wrong or evil done to it
  • Pays no attention to a suffered wrong
  • Does not rejoice in injustice or unrighteousness
  • Rejoices when right and truth prevail
  • Bears up under anything and everything that comes
  • Is ever ready to believe the BEST of every person
  • Its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances
  • It endures everything without weakening

Faith works by love and we're told to walk by faith.  If we get out of love with each other, then our faith won't work.  These two are wrapped up in each other.  You need one to have the another.

Read 1, 2, and 3rd John for more references to the love of God.
